Overview

Norway's capital sits at the head of Oslofjord. Vigeland Park holds more than 200 works by the sculptor Gustav Vigeland on the theme of life, centred on the 17-metre monolith. The harbour's opera house opened in 2008 with a white sloping roof that extends into the water and can be walked up for fjord views. The Munch Museum and the Viking Ship Museum are also in the city.

History

Vigeland Park was completed in the 1940s with every work by Vigeland himself, while the opera house opened in 2008 as a landmark of contemporary Norwegian architecture.
