Overview
Zuma Rock is a single granite intrusion whose summit reaches about 725 metres, with sheer faces that read like a natural rampart from a distance. Local tradition sees a human face in the hollows of the rock. Standing beside the main Abuja-Kaduna road, it is Nigeria's most accessible geological landmark and looks most dramatic in late-afternoon side light.
History
Formed roughly 160 million years ago by magma intrusion, it has long been considered sacred by the local Gwari people and serves as a natural landmark of the capital region.
