Overview
Established in 1971 across roughly 725 square kilometres, Lahemaa is Estonia's largest national park. Bogs, old-growth forest and Baltic coastline dominate, with boardwalks and observation towers over the wetlands. Several Baltic German manor houses, including Palmse, survive in the park and add a layer of architectural history.
History
Created in 1971 as one of the earliest national parks in the Soviet Union, it protects Baltic coastal bogs and forest as well as the manor houses.
