Overview
Opened in 1843, Tivoli is among the oldest amusement parks still operating. It keeps a wooden coaster built in 1914 alongside nearly thirty rides, a Chinese pagoda and illuminated fountains. Thousands of lights come on at night and reflect in the lake; Hans Christian Andersen visited often and drew inspiration here, and winter brings a Christmas market and light displays.
History
Created by Georg Carstensen on the idea of a people's park after persuading the king to allow it, it drew huge crowds in its first year and later influenced Walt Disney during his visit.
