A Dubai desert safari includes dune bashing, camel riding and a Bedouin camp dinner, and is one of the most popular activities.

History

The Arabian desert, including the Rub' al Khali, is one of the largest continuous deserts in the world at about 650,000 square kilometres. Dubai lies in the north-eastern corner of the peninsula, traditionally the territory of Bedouin nomads. Before the 19th century pearling and fishing were the main economic activities. After oil was discovered in 1966 Dubai grew rapidly, and desert safari tourism now lets modern luxury and traditional Bedouin culture coexist.

The red and green metro lines cover the main sights and the Nol card works on both; taxis start high, so ride-hailing is better for longer trips

Visa

The UAE grants visa-free entry to Chinese citizens for stays of up to 30 days; a passport valid for at least six months is all that is required, with no advance application.
